Hiei now sat up against the trunk, instinctively fingering the tear gem that hung from his neck for a moment, just to make sure it was still there. That it was safe. It was one of the few things he treasured, and he now checked it often when any demons were nearby. Although it was near impossible to get past the vicious fire demon's defences, he still needed to be reassured. Afterall, he was caught off guard by a rather weak demon the first time he lost the precious gem. Now he was determined not to let that happen again. A quiet sigh escaped his lips as he turned his attention again to the two demons. A wolf and a fox. They weren't exactly doing a very good job blending in with humans. He and Kurama had a much easier time doing so, Kurama being one on the outside, and him, resembling one enough so no human would look twice. He almost pitied the two of them. Almost. Sympathy for others who hadn't earned his trust was beyond him.

Mercy's form disappeared as she turned to her 'regular' form. It was but a rather small, lithe she-wolf with a black pelt. She was a wolf demon, of course she had a wolf form. Now, to find what she sought. Raising her nose to the air she caught Hiei's scent again, but Yusuke's was faint, as though he'd not been there for quite awhile. Well..She couldn't follow that. Ears flattening against the sides of her head she sat again, tail twitching as she looked around. She didn't have to get used to the colorless gaze as she kept it whether she was in this form or her demon one. She hadn't a human form. Since the stupid Reikai equipment wasn't working. Figures...

"...Go figure...my luck is bad, but that's fine I guess.." She muttered to herself and back to walking in this little park. She wasn't going to find herself what she was looking for, and what a pity that was. The wound on her attire were numbing down, but it depended on her keeping the right movements. Ha, that Yusuke! She finally remebered, rumors from Makai, when she still lived there, but a few rumors. Also, from that demon she killed a few weeks ago. She tapped her chin, and then shrugged her shoulders. "Well, when I don't wanna know it comes to me. What a terrible trick my mind plays." She rubbed her temples and glanced around. She wasn't paying much attention once again.

Hiei began to lose the last of his patience, realizing the wolf demon wouldn't be leaving him alone anytime soon. He wouldn't do anything rash though, especialy not in public surrounded by easily startled humans. The fire demon made a face at the thought of the pandemonium that would occur if he suddenly jumped down and killed someone. Still, even without the audience, he was no longer interested in returning to his old habits that involved senseless killing. He sat up and glanced at the wolf again, before casualy flipping backward out of the tree, and landing quietly out of view. It was more out of boredom than annoyance, although he only acknowledged the second part. There hadn't been much to do after all the problems in demon world were cleared. "Do you realize that there are no wolves in a public park?" he spoke to the demon coldly.

"Aie!" Mercy yelped, startled out of her wolf form. The wolf-demon sat blinking on the ground, glaring up at Hiei. "I didn't ask for your input. I'm looking for the detective." She stood, brushing herself off and looking back at him. The wolvine demon was only about an inch or so taller than the fire apparition, having gotten on the short side of the family.

Hiei narrowed his eyes. "Whatever you're here for, it won't make you any less conspicuous here. You think it may be easier to find who you're looking for by simply asking someone?" Even if he was a demon, here the detective was just as normal as everyone else. It couldn't be that hard to find someone to point her in his direction.

"Well...Would you happen to know where he is then?" She questioned, ears flicking backwards in annoyance. He just had to get out of his little tree and bother her. Of course, if he was willing to cooperate, she may have been able to find more about Yusuke's whereabouts.

"Yes. I know where he is. But that doesn't nessesarily mean I'm willing to help you," he said, although he probably would eventualy anyways. It was dificult for anyone to earn his trust so easily, and he wasn't about to jump to any conclusions.

"Please! It's really important that I get to him before he leaves! I can help him control his demon blood. Of course, that isn't why I need to find him, but its a benefit." Oh she'd known asking Hiei and getting an answer wouldn't be easy, she'd heard of the little fire demon's stubborn streak. She'd talked with Yusuke briefly before, only for a couple minutes when they'd met at the Makai Tournament. Now she needed to find him. How joyous. Cursed fate...Or whatever you wanted to call it. She blinked, glaring blankly down at the reikai equipment once more. The toddler had given it to her, and now it didn't work. Just goes to show how downhill Reikai support has gone...

Hiei watched her, his glare cold and unnerving. He'd already overheard her talking about becoming Yusuke's heir, so he knew the main reason already. "And what makes you think I'll help some demon I've never even met find the detective?" he questioned.

She glared at him, arms crossing over her chest as her tail flicked behind her. "This is getting me nowhere. The detective could use my help you know." She stated quietly, shifting her weight to the other foot. If the fire demon wasn't going to help her than she'd set off and find the Toushin on her own. It would probably be easier that way anyhow.

He still watched her carefully, although he did consider her trust. She seemed desperate to find Yusuke, and if he did need an heir he wouldn't be the one to drive him or her away. Even if the demon was another lier, the detective could take care of it himself. She didn't look very useful to him, but that wasn't his decision. "Fine. I'll help you find him, but only because I'm feeling generous today," he told her, although the reason didn't sound 100% true.

The wolf demon grinned, not entirely believing his reasons, but then again, not really caring either. She would be able to find Yusuke now. "Lead on then!" She gave a mock salute and pretended to stand at attention. She was a wolf demon...They were all a little crazy. And judging by the way she'd been laughing for nothing earlier...I'd say this one was much more crazier than usual.

Hiei looked at her strangely, but didn't comment. He couldn't believe someone like her was looking to become Yusuke's heir, but that was his decision. The fire demon crossed his arms, letting his sword rest on his shoulder. No one would say anything as long as he didn't use it. He turned from her and headed toward the city, not even bothering to look back to see if she was following.

She laughed at his expression as she followed. She knew he thought her odd, she'd been aiming for that. Of course, the wolfish girl had her serious moments as well, but for now someone would have to cheer the toushin up and if his own friends couldn't do it, than perhaps she ought to give it a try. What better way to cheer him up than to make him laugh? Oh she would succeed in this, she would be sure to succeed. Failure was not an option.
